IMC decides to grade washery rejects

November 10: At a recent meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC), which is working on a policy on coal rejects allocation for washery rejects-based power plants, a key decision was taken to categorise coal rejects generated from the washeries as “washery byproducts”, an official release has informed.

More importantly, a decision was taken to grade these materials based on their calorific value. It was also decided that CMPDIL will undertake a gradation exercise for the materials and put them within a GCV band of 1,000 Kcal/kg to 2,200 Kcal/kg.
