IMG meet to review 61 blocks slated on February 7-8

29 Jan 2014

January 29: The 24th meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG) will be held on February 7-8, according to an official communique from the Ministry of Coal (MoC). The IMC meetings are held to undertake periodic review of the development of allocated coal blocks which have not come to production and were asked to furnish documents on statutory clearances by February 5.

The cases of allocates who are required to obtain Forest Clearance (Stage II) will be taken up subsequently, the MoC further said.

A set of 61 coal blocks will be reviewed over these two days. None of these blocks have come under production and had been earlier asked by the ministry to furnish the relevant documents by February 5.

Some of the companies whose names feature on the list include Hindalco Industries-Tata Power (Tubed coal block), Tata Steel (Kotre Basantpur & Pachmo), Rungta Mines-Kohinoor Steel (Mednirai), ArcelorMittal-GVK Power (Seregarha), Usha Martin (Lohari), Essar Power-Hindalco (Mahan) among others.
