February 3: India's imported coal stocks at nine ports – eight major and one private –stood at 8.154 million tons (mt) as of January 31 against a volume of 8.059 mt as on January 23, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The overall inventories of imported coal at Indian ports as on January 31 edged up as coal stocks at Paradip, Mumbai and New Mangalore ports increased on a weekly basis.
As on January 31, coal stocks at Paradip Port increased to 3.048 mt against 2.986 mt recorded on January 23. Of the total coal stocks at the port recorded during the week, steam coal’s share was at 1.762 mt and coking coal’s share was at 1.286 mt against a volume of 1.574 mt and 1.412 mt respectively as on January 23.
Imported coal stocks at Mundra Port, Kolkata Port and Vizag Port during the week ended January 31 remained at the same level of January 23. As on January 23 coal stocks at these three ports stood at 0.993 mt and 0.789 mt and 1.200 mt respectively.
