Imported coal stocks edge up at Kolkata Port in Dec

January 22: Increased arrival from abroad amidst restricted despatches from the port lead to slight increase in stocks of imported coal at the Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) of Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) in December, an official from the port told ICMW.

The stocks of imported coal - steam coal, coking coal and met coke - at the port increased to 4.05 million tons (mt) as on the last day of December 2013, compared to 4.02 mt recorded on the last day of November 2013, the official said.

In the first nine months (April-December) of 2013-14, total coal imports through the port stood at 6.36 mt, out of which coking coal imports stood at 3.91mt, steam coal at 1.74 mt, anthracite coal at 127,512 tons, PCI coal at 217,105 tons, metallurgical coke at 327,385 tons and petroleum coke, at 39,205 tons.
