Imports of met coke via New Mangalore shot up 221.55% in November m-o-m

December 24: Imports of met coke via New Mangalore Port stood at 41,818 tons in November 2015, sharply rising 221.55% compared to 13,005 tons imported in October 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

A volume of 46,575 tons of met coke had been imported via this port in November 2014.

Total met coke imports through the port during the first eight months (April-November) of 2015-16 stood at 299,551 tons against 247,291 tons in the same period of the previous fiscal.

Imports of met coke through the port in financial year 2014-15 stood at 310,460 tons.

Following is the monthly break-up of met coke imports via New Mangalore Port in 2014-15 and 2015-16 (in tons):

In November 2015, entire material came from China at a price range of Rs 9,785-Rs 10,029 ($142-$152) per ton.

In October 2015, out the entire material, 13,000 tons came from China at a price range of Rs 9,901-Rs 10,022 ($152-$153) per ton and 5 tons came from Ukraine at a price of Rs 9,446 ($145) per ton.
