India Cements reports Rs 22. 5 crore loss in Q2

November 7: Chennai-based India Cements Limited reported Rs 22.5 crore net loss in the quarter ended September 2013 (Q2 2013-14) compared to a net profit of Rs 49.08 crore reported in the same period last year (Q2 2012-13).
The data showed that the main reasons for the loss were costly power and fuel and huge forex loss during the quarter.
In the previous quarter (Q1, 2013-14), however, the company reported a net profit of Rs 16.82 crore.
Income from operations too has decreased to Rs 1,085.93 crore in Q2,2013-14 compared to Rs 1,122.67 crore in the corresponding period last year, (Q2. 2012-13), registering 3.28% decline.
For the first six months (April-September) 2013-14 net loss for the company was Rs 5.71 crore compared to a net profit of 111.15 crore during the same period in the previous year (April-September) 2012-13.
