The country had added 2,020 MW of generation capacity in January 2015 and 2,280 MW in December 2015, the data revealed.

India’s total power generation capacity addition during the first 10 months (April- January) of 2015-16 stood lower by 1% as compared to the corresponding period in 2014-15.

The total power generation capacity addition during the first 10 months of 2015-16 stood at 13,521.6 MW, down from 13,630.41 MW added during the same period of 2014-15, the data revealed.

Of the total capacity addition during the first 10 months of 2015-16, 12,125.6 MW was in the thermal sector, down 1% from 12,294.40 MW added in the same period of 2014-15.

The addition in hydro was, however, up a whopping 315% at 1,396 MW from only 336.01 MW added in the same period last year. There was no addition in the nuclear sector in 2015-16 though there was addition of 1,000 MW in the same period of 2014-15.
