India adds 28,114 ckms transmission lines in 2015-16

India has added 28,114 circuit kilometres (ckms) of transmission lines during financial year 2015-16, a rise of 27.21% compared to 22,101 ckms of transmission lines added in 2014-15, according to a report released by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
Of the total transmission lines addition during 2015-16, 11,181 ckms was in the 400 KV category, up 11.90% from 9,992 ckm added in 2014-15.
The addition in 220 KV was, however, up a sharp 71.59% at 7,826 ckms from 4,561 ckms added in 2014-15.
Moreover, 2,393 ckms of transmission lines were added in India in March 2016, according to the CEA report, sharply rising 103.49% over 1,176 ckms of transmission lines added in February 2016.
The country had added 4,321 ckms of transmission lines in March 2015, the data revealed.
