India aims to generate 1137.5 BU electricity in FY16
29 Dec 2015
India plans to generate a total of 1137.5 billion units (BU) of electricity in the year 2015-16, which is 11.19% higher compared to the target set for 2014-15, Power Minister Piyush Goyal has said.
The generation target in 2014-15 was 1,023.00 BU, while actual generation was 1,048.673 BU, the minister said.
Goyal said, the electricity generated in mega watts is an instantaneous value and hence varies with time. Thus, the quantum of electricity generated is measured in million units (MU) for a specified period.
The generation target and actual generation in the year 2012-13 were 930 BU and 912.057 BU and that in 2013-14 were 975.00 BU and 967.150 BU respectively, he said.
