India attains 99.42% power generation target in Apr-Dec, 2013

February 12: The Government of India has achieved 99.42% of its power generation target for the period April-December, 2013, a government release said.

India’s power generation target during the period stood at 725.68 billion units (BU) against which 721.47 BU was achieved for the period.

There is an increase of 5.42% in power generation till February 11, 2014 in the current year as compared to an increase of 4.01% during last year.

In 2012-13, 98% of the power generation target was met, ie, actual power generation stood at 912.06 BU as compared to a target of 930 BU.

Power generation growth rate stood at 8.11% in 2011-12 and 5.56% in 2010-11.
