June 19: India needs cost effective and readily available solar energy applications and for this special focus should be made on districts covered under the scheme, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr. Jitendra Singh said.
Speaking at a two-day workshop on solar energy pumping systems, Singh said special focus should be made on districts covered under the integrated action plan to boost innovations and applications in rural drinking water supply.
Singh said his ministry has already started initiatives to encourage youngsters opting science as a mission and not as a left over choice to promote new innovations and ideas that enhances scientific temperament across the country.
