India’s 2015-16 total power generation rises 5.30%

India’s total power generation was up 5.30% to 1,107.385 billion units (BU) during financial year 2015-16 as compared to 1,048.672 BU in 2014-15, according to data published by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
The main factor behind the rise in generation in 2015-16 was an increase in thermal power generation, which was up 7.41% at 943.407 BU compared to 878.32 BU generated in 2014-15.
As in y-o-y, India’s total power generation rose on a m-o-m basis as well when it was up 8.32% to 96.075 BU during February 2016 as compared to 88.695 BU in February 2016.
Rise in thermal power generation again played here the main role as it was up 7.40% at 85.505 BU in March 2016 compared to 79.611 BU generated in February 2016.
