India’s Apr-Nov indirect tax collections up 7.1%

December 12: India’s indirect tax revenue (provisional) collections during the first eight months (April-November) of 2014-15 have registered a 7.1% increase at Rs 328,662 crore from Rs 306,814 crore recorded during the corresponding period of 2013-14, an official release said.
The collection of service tax increased by 11.5% during the same period to Rs 102,592 crore from Rs 91,982 crore, the release said, adding that the collection of service tax was 47.5% of the target fixed for the year.
Collections from customs increased from Rs 111,844 crore during April-November, 2013 to Rs 123,308 crore during April-November, 2014 registering an increase of 10.2%. This is an achievement of 61.1% of the target fixed for 2014-15, the release added.
