India’s August coal despatches dip by 1.12% m-o-m

September 28: India’s coal despatches in the month of August 2015 stood at 48.46 million tons against 49.01 mt in July 2015, down 1.12% month-on-month, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

India’s August 2015 coal despatches registered a growth of 4.17% from 46.52 mt recorded in the same month a year ago.

Coal despatches in the first five months (April-August) of the current fiscal (2015-16) stood at 249.85 million tons (mt), up 3.21% from 242.082 mt recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal.

India’s coal despatches from April to August of 2015-16 were 89.05% of the 280.561 mt target set for the period.

Of the total coal despatched in August 2015, CIL’s share stood at 40.58 mt, up from 37.24 mt in the same month a year ago. Coal despatches target for the month of August at CIL were 40.47 mt.

Coal despatches from Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and captive blocks stood at 4.864 mt and 3.009 mt respectively in August 2015, against 4.068 mt and down from 5.209 mt in the previous fiscal respectively. Coal despatches target for the month of August were 3.926 mt and 7.833 mt for SCCL and captive blocks respectively.

The annual and August despatch targets in 2015-16 were at 699.63 mt and 52.23 mt respectively.
