September 28: India’s coal production in the month of August 2015 stood at 43.63 million tons, up 3.22% from 42.27 million tons (mt) reported in July 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In August 2015, India’s coal production was marginally up 0.39% from 43.46 mt recorded in the same month a year ago (August 2014).
Production targets for the month of August 2015 were 49.25 mt while the same for 2015-16 stands at 700 mt.
India’s coal production in the first five months (April-August) of the current fiscal (2015-16) stood at 230.39 mt, up 4.58% from 220.51 mt recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal.
During the first five months (April-August) of the current fiscal (2015-16), India’s coal production was 89.62% of the targeted 257.07 mt set for the period.
