India’s Dec power generation up 4.72% m-o-m

India’s total power generation rose 4.72% to 89.304 billion units (BU) during the month of December 2015 as compared to 85.276 BU generated during the month of November 2015, according to data published by Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
The rise in generation in December was along expected lines because of the winter season in the country that causes a rise in thermal power generation, which was up by 5.87% at 79.892 BU compared to 75.461 BU generated in November 2015.
Thermal power generation rose on a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis too as 76.607 BU was the generation in December 2014.
The total generation of power during the first nine months (April-December) of 2015-16, however, stood at 829.846 BU, up 4.43% compared to 794.651 BU generated during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
