India’s FY15 coal despatches increase 6% y-o-y

April 28: India’s coal despatches during 2014-15 stood at 607.51 million tons (mt) from 572.06 mt recorded in the previous fiscal (2013-14), according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Of the total coal despatched in 2014-15, CIL’s stood at 488.92 mt, up from 470.92 mt in the previous fiscal while the same from Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) and captive blocks stood at 52.67 mt and 65.93 mt respectively, up from 47.89 mt and 53.25 mt in the previous fiscal respectively.
Coal despatches in the last fiscal, however, were down from the targeted 643.26 mt, of which 519.59 mt was to be despatched by Coal India Limited, 55.42 mt by Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) and 68.25 mt by captive coal mines.
In March 2015, India’s coal despatches stood at 58.19 mt, up 5.45% from 55.18 mt recorded for the same month in the previous fiscal.
On a month-on-month basis, India’s coal despatches also increased from 52.75 mt in February 2015.
