India’s FY15 coking coal output up 3% y-o-y

April 28: India’s coking coal production in 2014-15 rose 2.99% to 58.52 million tons (mt) against 56.82 mt produced in 2013-14, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Coking coal production during 2014-15 rose slightly above the target of 57.99 mt.
In March 2015, India’s coking coal production stood at 7.38 mt, up 11.31% from 6.63 mt recorded in the same month of 2013-14.
On a month-on-month basis too, coking coal production in March 2015 rose sharply from 5.74 mt produced in February 2015, data revealed.
India’s coking coal output for the month of March was significantly up from the target of 6.33 mt.
In 2014-15 coking coal production by Coal India Limited (CIL) rose 5.52% to 51.62 mt against 48.92 mt coking coal produced in 2013-14.
In March, coking coal production in CIL rose significantly above its target. During the month, coking coal production by CIL stood at 6.82 mt against a target of 5.57 mt and 6.06 mt produced in the same month a year ago.
On a month-on-month basis too CIL’s coking coal production grew from 5.20 mt produced in February.
In January, CIL’s coking coal production stood at 4.48 mt, while the same stood at 4.49 mt in December 2014.
In November, CIL’s coking coal production stood at 4.30 mt and 4.01 mt in October. CIL’s coking coal production in September stood at 3.68 mt, while in August it was at 3.85 mt. In July it stood at 3.36 mt, in June, production of the same stood at 3.82 mt. In May, coking coal production by CIL was at 3.92 mt while the same was 3.73 mt in April 2014.
