India’s FY16 coking coal output exceeds target 2.26%

India’s coking coal production in 2015-16 (April-March) surpassed the annual target of 58.92 million tons (mt) by 2.26% and stood at 60.25 mt, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
During 2015-16, the production of the same was 4.88% higher than 57.44 mt recorded for the same period of the previous fiscal.
India’s coking coal production in March 2016 also exceeded the target of 5.53 mt by 17.19% to stand at 6.48 mt.
Production during the month increased 16.75% compared to 5.55 mt in February 2016, and 0.04% lower compared to 6.48 mt produced in March 2015, the data revealed.
Of the total production in March, 5.89 mt (6.19 mt last year) was produced by Coal India Ltd (CIL) subsidiaries, while 0.58 mt (0.37 mt) was produced by the captive mines.
