India’s FY16 pithead vendible stocks rise 11.93% y-o-y

India’s pithead vendible coal stocks rose 9.64% to 65.12 million tons (mt) as on March 31, 2016 from 59.39 mt as on the last day of March 31 2015.
On a month-on-month basis, pithead vendible coal stocks were up 21.01% from 54.25 mt recorded as on the last day of February 2016.
The increase in pithead stocks was largely on account of a jump in stocks at eight of the coal producing subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd (ECL, BCCL, CCL, NCL, WCL, SECL, MCL and NEC) and also at Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL).
The following table gives detailed break-up of pithead vendible stocks with coal companies as of the last date of the months (April-February) for 2015-16 and on February 29, 2015 (in million tons):
