India’s Feb coking coal production exceeds target

India’s coking coal production in February 2016 exceeded the target of 5.41 million tons (mt) and stood at 6.25 mt, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The production during the month was 12.43% higher compared to 5.55 mt in January 2016, and 11.24% higher compared to 5.59 mt produced in February 2015, the data revealed.
Coking coal production during the first 11 months (April-February) of the current fiscal stood at 53.53 mt, 3.78% higher than 51.19 mt recorded for the same period of the previous fiscal.
Of the total production in February, 5.63 mt (5.06 mt last year) was produced by Coal India Ltd (CIL) subsidiaries, while 0.61 mt (0.52 mt) was produced by captive mines.
