India’s Feb power generation down 3.27% m-o-m

India’s total power generation was down 3.27% to 88.695 billion units (BU) during February 2016 as compared to 91.691 BU in January 2016, according to data published by Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
The main factor behind the fall in generation in February was a decline in thermal power generation, which was down by 3.38% at 79.611 BU compared to 82.396 BU generated in January 2016.
However, thermal power generation rose 12.38% on a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis too as 70.839 BU was the generation in February 2015.
The total generation of power during the first 11 months (April-February) of 2015-16, however, stood at 1,010.994BU, up 5.06% compared to 962.334 BU generated during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
