India’s February coal imports decline 12% m-o-m

India’s coal and coke imports during March 2016 through 31 major and non-major ports are estimated to have fallen 12.4% compared to February 2016, according to a provisional compilation by ICMW, based on monitoring of vessels’ positions and data received from shipping companies.
Imports during March 2016 stood at 17.74 million tons (mt) (provisional) as compared to 20.26 mt (revised) imported in February 2016.
The provisional figure for the month of February 2016 was 17.35 mt.
Imports in March 2015 stood at 23.51 mt, according to ICMW’s compilation.
Of the total imports during March 2016, non-coking coal was at 12.50 mt against 14.93 mt imported in the month of February. Coking coal imports were at 3.32 mt in March 2016, a drop from the February figure of 3.34 mt.
Metallurgical coke imports during the month were at 0.27 mt and the same was at 0.27 mt in the last month while petroleum coke imports fell to 1.16 mt in March 2016 from 1.23 mt in February 2016.
PCI coal imports were at 0.36 mt in March 2016 against 0.39 mt imported in February 2016.
Anthracite coal imports, on the other hand, rose to 0.13 mt in March 2016 against 0.09 mt in February 2016.
