India’s February coal imports edge down 2% m-o-m

India’s coal and coke imports during February 2016 through 31 major and non-major ports are estimated to have fallen 1.8% compared to January 2016, according to a provisional compilation by ICMW, based on monitoring of vessels’ positions and data received from shipping companies.
Imports during February 2016 stood at 17.35 million tons (mt) (provisional) as compared to 17.67 mt (revised) imported in January 2016.
The provisional figure for the month of January 2016 was 17.18 mt.
Imports in February 2015 stood at 17.49 mt, according to ICMW’s compilation.
Of the total imports during February 2016, non-coking coal was at 12.61 mt against 12.60 mt imported in January. Coking coal imports were at 3.26 mt in February 2016, beating the January figure of 3.20 mt.
Metallurgical coke imports during the month fell to 0.28 mt from 0.30 mt last month while petroleum coke imports also fell to 0.78 mt in February 2016 from 1.01 mt in January 2016.
PCI coal imports fell to 0.29 mt in February 2016 from 0.47 mt imported in January 2016.
Anthracite coal imports, on the other hand, rose to 0.13 mt in February 2016 against 0.09 mt in January 2016.
