India’s H1 coal production up 7.28 % y-o-y

October 29: India’s coal production during the first half of 2014-15 stood at 264.29 million tons (mt), up 7.28% compared to 246.36 mt produced during the corresponding period of 2013-14, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
However, production during the first half of 2014-15 was lower from the target of 278.26 mt for the period.
For financial year 2014-15, India’s coal production target stands at 630.25 mt of which 507.00 mt is to be produced by Coal India, 55 mt by Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) and 68.25 mt by captive coal mines.
Production in September 2014 stood at 43.97 mt, up 7.24% from 41.00 mt produced during the corresponding month of 2013.
Production in September 2014 was also slightly up from 43.51 mt recorded in August.
However, coal production in September was down from the target of 45.78 mt for the month which means coal production for the month of September 2014 was 96.04% of the target, data revealed.
