India’s Jan coal despatches edge up 2.07 % y-o-y

March 2: India’s coal despatches during January 2015 stood at 54.84 million tons (mt), up 2.07% from 53.73 mt in January 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The despatches in January 2015 were slightly down from 54.98 mt despatched in December 2014.
India’s coal despatches during April-January, 2014-15 stood at 496.63 mt, up 6.22% from 467.56 mt produced during the corresponding period of 2013-14, provisional data revealed.
However, despatches during April-January, 2014-15 were lower from the target of 528.40 mt set for the period.
For financial year 2014-15, India’s coal despatch target stands at 643.26 mt of which 519.59 mt is to be despatched by Coal India Limited, 55.42 mt by Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) and 68.25 mt by captive coal mines.
