India’s January cement output up 8.33% m-o-m
17 Mar 2016
India’s cement production in January 2016 surged to 25.88 million tons (mt), an increase of 8.33% compared to 23.89 mt registered in December 2015.
According to data available with ICMW, production in January 2016 was up 8.69% compared to 23.81 mt produced in January 2015.
For the first 10 months (April-January) of 2015-16, India’s cement production stood at 230.20 mt, up 2.91% compared to 223.69 mt produced in the same period of 2014-15.
Earlier, after touching a high of more than 24 mt in May 2015, cement production had witnessed a decline for four consecutive months, but rose 5.92% to 22.73 mt in October. In November, again, production went downhill, largely owing to lack of demand. But in December, it somewhat bounced back thanks to a fall in the prices of pet coke, limestone and fuel.
