India’s January power generation up 3% m-o-m

: India’s total power generation rose 2.67% to 91.691 billion units (BU) during January 2016 as compared to 89.304 BU in December 2015, according to data published by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
The rise in generation in January was along expected lines because of the winter season in the country that causes a rise in thermal power generation, which was up 3.13% at 82.396 BU compared to 79.892 BU generated in December 2015.
Thermal power generation rose 8.56% on a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis too as 75.898 BU was generated in January 2015.
The total generation of power during the first 10 months (April-January) of 2015-16, however, stood at 921.862 BU, up 4.62% compared to 881.13 BU generated during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
