India’s Jul coal imports down 11% m-o-m

India’s coal and coke imports during July 2016 through 31 major and non-major ports are estimated decrease 10.70% compared to June 2016, according to a provisional compilation by ICMW, based on monitoring of vessels’ positions and data received from shipping companies.

Imports during July 2016 stood at 18.03 million tons (mt) (provisional) as compared to 20.19 mt (revised) imported in June 2016.

The provisional figure for the month of June 2016 was 19.70 mt.

Imports in July 2015 stood at 20.29 mt, according to ICMW’s compilation.

Imports during April-July 2016 down to 74.62 million tons (mt) (provisional) as compared to 79.96 mt imported in April-July 2015.

Of the total imports during July 2016, non-coking coal was at 12.39 mt against 13.81 mt was imported in the month of June. Coking coal imports were at 3.76 mt in July 2016 fell from the June figure of 4.00 mt.

In April-July 2016, non-coking coal was at 52.10 mt against 58.74 mt was imported in the same period last year. Coking coal imports were also down to 14.31 mt in April-July 2016 as 15.40 mt was recorded in April-July 2015.

Metallurgical coke imports during the month were at 0.32 mt against 0.39 mt were imported in the last month while petroleum coke imports fell to 1.05 mt in July 2016 from 1.54 mt in June 2016.

Metallurgical coke imports during April-July 2016 were at 1.58 mt, up against April-July 2015’s import figure of 1.19 mt while petroleum coke imports were also up at 4.59 mt in April-July 2016 from 3.11 mt in April-July 2015.

PCI coal imports were at 0.40 mt in July 2016 up against 0.32 mt was imported in June 2016.

PCI coal imports were at 1.55 mt in April-July 2016 up against 1.07 mt was imported in April-July 2015.

Anthracite coal imports, on the other hand, fell to 0.12 mt in July 2016 as it was recorded 0.13 mt in June 2016.

For April-July 2016, Anthracite coal imports were recorded at 0.49 mt and 0.45 mt was recorded for April-July 2015.
