India’s June coal production up 8.14%

July 31: India’s coal production in June 2014 stood at 43.70 million tons (mt), up 8.14% compared to 40.42 mt produced during the corresponding month of 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The production in June was down by 4.12% compared to 45.58 mt recorded in May, but down by 6.02% from the target of 46.54 mt for the month of June, the data revealed.
With this, India’s coal production during the first three months of 2014-15 stood at 134.65 mt, up 5.94% compared to 127.10 mt produced during the corresponding period of 2013-14.
Despite the slight year-on-year increase, the country’s coal production during the first three months of 2014-15 was lower by 5.54% from the target of 142.54 mt for the period.
For financial year 2014-15, India’s coal production target stands at 630.25 mt of which 507.00 mt is to be produced by Coal India, 55.00 mt by Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) and 68.25 mt by captive coal mines.
