India’s November coal despatches up 2.23% m-o-m

December 28: India’s coal despatches in the month of November 2015 stood at 53.93 million tons (mt) against 52.75 mt in October 2015, up 2.23% month-on-month, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

On a year-on-year basis, the desptaches in November 2015 registered a growth of 4.37% year-on-year from 51.67 mt recorded in the same month a year ago. The November 2015 performance, however, was lower than the monthly target of 58.81 mt, the data shows.

Coal despatches in the first eight months (April-November) of the current fiscal (2015-16) stood at 404.62 mt, up 4.54% from 387.03 mt recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal.

India’s coal despatches during April-November, 2015-16 were 90.37% of the 447.76 mt target set for the period.

Of the total coal despatched during April-November 2015, CIL’s share stood at 340.87 mt, up from 310.47 mt recorded for the same period a year ago. In the month of November 2015, CIL’s despatches stood at 45.30 mt. CIL despatches target for the month of November 2015 was 46.13 mt and the same for the first eight months of 2015-16 was 349.94 mt.

Coal despatches from Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and captive blocks stood at 5.03 mt and 3.59 mt, respectively, in November 2015, against 4.41 mt and 5.57 mt achieved, respectively, in the same month last fiscal. The despatch target for the month of November 2015 was 4.85 mt for SCCL and 7.83 mt for captive blocks.

The country’s annual coal despatch target in 2015-16 is 699.63 mt.
