India’s cement production falls 1.48% in Oct m-o-m

December 19: India’s cement production stood at 20.61 million tons (mt) during the month of October 2013, down by 1.48% from 20.92 mt produced during September, according to a compilation by ICMW.
Total cement production during April-October, 2013 stood at 144.18 mt compared to 138.62 mt during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Due to the gloomy market scenario, currently, cement manufacturers are operating at only around 70% of the total installed capacity while the remaining 30% is lying idle due to lack of adequate orders, said an industry source.
Currently the total installed capacity of cement production is at 350 mt, he added.
