September 20: India's coal imports, including steam, coking, anthracite, PCI, pet coke and met coke, through 20 major and minor ports fell 12.15% during the week ending September 20 compared to the week ending September 13, according to provisional compilation by ICMW based on data received from Samsara Shipping and monitoring of vessels.
This was the second week running when imports declined. The import during the week ended September 13 had fallen by 6.53% compared with import during September 6.
Of the total imports during the current week, the import of steam coal is estimated at 1.7469 mt against 1.797 mt in the previous week while Coking coal import fell to 0.332 mt compared to 0.475 mt last week.
The import of metallurgical coke more than doubled to 44,000 tons from 21,000 tons during the week ending on September 13, whereas petroleum coke import is estimated to have fallen sharply to only 11,000 tons this week compared to 104,502 tons during the week ending September 13.
There was no import of Anthracite coal and PCI coal through any of the ports monitored in the week ended September20, as per the provisional data.
