December 6: India’s imports of coal, including steam, coking, anthracite, PCI, pet coke and met coke through the 20 major and minor ports were up 4.37% to 2.868 million tons (mt) in the week ended December 6 compared to 2.745 mt coal recorded in the week ended November 29, according to a provisional compilation by ICMW based on data received from Samsara Shipping and monitoring of vessels.
Coal imports in the week ended November 29, however, revised up to 2.745 mt from a provisional 2.700 mt.
Of the total imports during the week December 6, that of steam coal was estimated at 2 mt down from 2.05 mt (revised) imported in the previous week (ended November 29) while coking coal imports were slightly down to 647,132 tons in the current week compared to 662,200 tons in the week ended November 29.
Imports of metallurgical coke further declined to 9,900 tons in the present week ended December 6 from 32,000 tons imported last week (ended November 29).
Petroleum coke imports stood at 171,531 tons during the current week whereas there were no imports of the same during last week. Imports of PCI coal and anthracite coal stood at 27,123 tons and 6,599 tons respectively for the week ended December 6 while there were no imports of either PCI or anthracite coal last week (ended November 29).
