India’s coking coal production falls 3.65% in Oct m-o-m

December 19: India’s coking coal production fell for the fourth consecutive month in October 2013, to 3.69 million tons (mt) compared to 3.83 mt in September, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In September, coking coal production fell 6.13% from 4.08 mt in August 2013, while there was a marginal decline in coking coal production during July.
On a year-on-year basis too production in October declined slightly compared to 3.71 mt recorded in the corresponding period of last year (October 2012).
During the first seven months (April-October) of 2013-14, coking coal production stood at 29.73 mt compared to 26.25 mt during the corresponding period of the previous year.
CIL’s coking coal production for the first seven months of 2013-14 stood at 24.87 mt against 21.70 mt recorded in the corresponding period of last year while for captive coal mines, production stood at 4.855 mt in the April-October period of FY’14 compared to 4.549 mt recorded in the corresponding period of last year.
