India’s hydro-power generation capacity at 42,623 MW

India’s total installed capacity of hydro-electricity generation stations stood at 42,623.42 MW as on November 30, 2015, a government official said.
The official said that as many as 43 hydro electric projects (HEPs) with a total capacity of 25,349 MW has been accorded concurrence during the 11th and 12th plans by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
Of the total installed generation capacity as on November 30, 2015, the state of Maharashtra has a capacity of 2,887 MW even though no HEP was accorded concurrence in the state during the two Plan periods, the official added.
