India’s hydro-power generation capacity at 42,623 MW

India’s total installed capacity of hydro-electricity generation stations stood at 42,623.42 MW as on November 30, 2015, a government official said.

The official said that as many as 43 hydro electric projects (HEPs) with a total capacity of 25,349 MW has been accorded concurrence during the 11^th and 12^th plans by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

Of the total installed generation capacity as on November 30, 2015, the state of Maharashtra has a capacity of 2,887 MW even though no HEP was accorded concurrence in the state during the two Plan periods, the official added.
