India’s imported coal stocks at 8 ports up 4.95 % w-o-w

June 24: India's imported coal stocks at eight ports -seven major and one private - provisionally increased 4.95 % to 5.381 million tons (mt) as on June 20, 2014 compared to a volume of 5.127 mt recorded as on June 13, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

With this, the imported coal stocks at eight Indian ports were at the highest level in last five weeks.

The overall inventory of imported coal stocks in ports have gone up as a result of higher stocks in three major ports- Paradip, Kolkata and Mormugao -and one private port Mundra in the week ended June 20, compared to previous week (ended June 13),as per provisional information available with ICMW.

Imported coal stocks in Paradip Port increased 9.07% to 1.322 mt as on June 20, compared to 1.212 mt as on June 13. Of the total imported coal stocks in the port as on June 20, stocks of steam coal stood at 0.68 mt up from 0.58 mt as on June 13 whereas coking coal stock remained unchanged at 0.64 mt.

Imported coal stocks position at Mundra Port increased by 20.67% on June 20 to 0.899 mt compared to 0.745 mt recorded on June 13. Of the total stocks as on June 20, the port’s stocks of steam coal stood at 0.75 mt up from 0.58 mt on June 13. Coking coal stocks at the port, however, dropped slightly to 0.15 mt on June 20 compared to 0.17 mt recorded on June 13.

Imported coal stocks in Kolkata Port increased slightly as on June 20 to 0.472 mt, compared to 0.468 mt as on June 13. Of the total imported coal stocks in the port as on June 20, cumulative stocks of steam and other coals remained unchanged at 0.20 mt from that of June 13 while the coking coal stocks of the port increased slightly to 0.28 mt up from 0.26 mt as on June 13.
