India’s imported coal stocks at 9 ports dip w-o-w

May 4: India’s imported coal stocks at nine ports – eight major and one private –fell slightly in the week ended May 1, compared to the previous week as stocks at Mundra dropped significantly, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

India’s imported coal stocks as on May 1 stood at 8.124 million tons (mt) against a volume of 8.313 mt recorded on April 24.

Coal stocks at Paradip Port increased slightly to 2.945 mt as on May 1, up negligibly from 2.941 mt recorded on April 24. Of the total coal stocks at the port on May 1, share of steam coal and coking coal stood at 1.482 mt and 1.463 mt respectively from 1.408 mt and 1.533 mt recorded as on April 24.

Imported coal stocks at Mundra Port dropped sharply to 0.280 mt as on May 1 from 0.500 mt recorded as on April 24. Of the total coal stocks at the port, share of steam coal stood at 0.180 mt and that of coking coal at 0.100 mt as on May 1 against 0.170 mt and 0.330 mt recorded on April 24.

Imported coal inventories at Kolkata Port, as on May 1, rose to 0.867 mt against a volume of 0.820 mt on April 24. Of the total coal stocks at the port, share of coking coal stood at 0.214 mt as on May 1 against a volume of 0.275 mt on April 24 while non-coking coal stocks at the port stood at 0.653 mt as on May 1, up sharply from 0.545 mt on April 24.

At Vizag Port, imported coal stocks rose a little to 1.555 mt on May 1 against a volume of 1.500 mt on April 24. Coking coal stocks at the port rose to 0.855 mt as on May 1 against 0.800 mt recorded on April 24 while steam coal stocks at the port remained at their previous levels of 0.700 mt (April 24) on May 1, data revealed.
