India’s imported coal stocks at 9 ports up 4.02% w-o-w

April 6: After declining for six consecutive weeks, India’s imported coal stocks at nine ports – eight major and one private –rose 4% in the week ended April 3, mainly on the back of increasing stocks at various ports according to data available with ICMW.

India’s imported coal stocks as on April 3 rose to 8.135 million tons (mt) against 7.820 mt recorded on March 27, according to provisional data available with ICMW

On March 27, India’s imported coal stocks stands revised to 7.820 mt against a provisional figure of 7.890 mt as coal stocks at Mundra Port stands revised to 0.450 mt as on March 27 against provisional 0.520 mt.

On April 3, coal stocks at Paradip Port stood at 2.818 mt against a volume of 2.691 mt recorded on March 2. Of the total coal stocks at the port on April 3, non-coking coal stocks stood at 1.518 mt while the share of coking coal was 1.300 mt both up from 1.508 mt and 1.183 mt, respectively from that on March 27.

Imported coal stocks at Mundra Port as on April 3 remained at the previous level of 0.450 mt.

Imported coal inventories at Kolkata port remained at 0.802 mt on April 3, up from 0.737 mt on March 27. At Kolkata Port, non-coking coal stocks on April 3 stood at 0.555 mt up from 0.545 mt on March 27, while coking coal stocks at the port rose to 0.250 mt on April 6 from 0.192 mt as on March 27.

At Vizag Port imported coal stocks rose to 1.500 mt as on April 6 from 1.350 mt as on March 27. As on April 6 coking coal stocks at the port stood at 0.800 mt, increasing shaprly from 0.520 mt while steam coal stocks at the port dropped to 0.700 mt on April 6 from 0.830 mt on March 27.
