Indian Railways H1 freight up 6.16% y-o-y

October 10: Indian Railways (IR) carried 511.00 million tons (mt) of revenue earning freight traffic during the first half (H1) of fiscal 2013. The freight carried shows an increase of 29.65 million tons over the freight traffic of 481.35 million tons actually carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 6.16%.

During the month of September 2013, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways was 84.86 million tons. There is an increase of 8.93 million tons over the actual freight traffic of 75.93 million tons carried by Indian Railways during the same period last year, showing an increase of 11.76%.
