Indian Railways’ carry 180.63 mt freight during Apr-May’14

June 12:  Indian Railways have carried 180.63 million tons (mt) of revenue earning freight traffic during April-May 2014, up by 8.79 mt or 5.12% over the freight traffic of 171.84 mt actually carried during the corresponding period last year, a government release said.

During the month of May 2014, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways stood at 91.83 mt, up 3.67 mt or 4.16% over the actual freight traffic of 88.16 mt carried by the Indian Railways during the same period last year, the release added.
