Indian Railways to Procure 13,162 Wagons during 2014-15

December 15: Indian Railways is contemplating to acquire a total of about 13,162 wagons during the current financial year (2014-15), an official release said.
The move, if materializes, will benefit wagon makers and also the steel industry, experts believes.
The Railways, which operated as many as 7421 freight trains daily in 2012-13, plans its wagon acquisition every year based on various factors, the release added.
As per Railway budget for 2013-14, the wagon procurement plan for the year was fixed at 16,000, same as 2012-13, but ICMW could not verify the exact number of actual orders placed during both the years.
