Indian cos exploring Chilean steam coal sources

November 26: In an attempt to look for new sources for coal supplies, Indian companies appear to be exploring opportunities for bringing in steam coal from Chile, industry sources said.

In fact, a small parcel of 27,000 tons of Chilean steam coal had arrived at Krishnapatnam Port in the month of October, they said.

The source could not reveal the name of the buyer or trader.

ICMW does not have exact specifications of the material that arrived from Chile but the CFR price revealed was Rs 3,230 per ton or about $52 per ton.
