Indian power cos’ Dec coal receipts up 6.26% m-o-m

Total coal receipts, both indigenous and domestic, by Indian power utilities, in December 2015 stood at 51.58 million tons (mt), up 6.26% month-on-month against 48.54 mt received in November, as per CEA data available with ICMW.
Of the total receipt during the month, 44.12 mt was indigenous coal and 7.44 mt was imported coal as compared to 40.35 mt and 9.0 mt respectively in the corresponding month of 2014.
Receipt of coal (both indigenous and imported), by Indian power utilities during the first nine (April-December) months of 2015-16 increased by 4.50% to 414.05 mt from 396.20 mt received during the corresponding period of 2014-15, according to the data.
Of the total receipt during the nine month period, 353.32 mt was indigenous coal and 61.73 mt was imported coal. The receipt of indigenous coal during the period was up 7.76% as compared to 326.94 mt received during the corresponding period of 2014-15, while imported coal receipt was down 10.87% compared with 69.26 mt last year.
