Indian power cos’ Jan coal receipts dip 0.87% m-o-m

Total coal receipts, both indigenous and domestic, by Indian power utilities, in January 2016 stood at 51.13 million tons (mt), showing a dip of 0.87% month-on-month against 51.58 mt received in December 2015, as per CEA data available with ICMW.
Of the total receipts during the month, 44.311 mt was indigenous coal and 6.824 mt was imported as compared to 40.424 mt and 8.821 mt respectively in the corresponding month of 2015.
Receipt of coal (both indigenous and imported), by Indian power utilities during the first 10 months (April-January) of 2015-16 went up by 4.53% to 465.014 mt from 444.847 mt received during the corresponding period of 2014-15, according to the data.
Of the total receipt during the 10-month period, 396.357 mt was indigenous coal and 68.657 mt was imported. The receipt of indigenous coal during the period was up 7.82% as compared to 367.612 mt received during the corresponding period of 2014-15, while imported coal receipts were down 11.10% compared to 77.235 mt seen in the same period last year.
