Indian power cos’ Nov coal receipts up 0.24% m-o-m

December 17: Coal receipts by India’s power utilities stood at 45.76 million tons (mt) in November 2014, up 0.24% from 45.65 mt (revised) reported in October 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The total volume of coal received in November 2014 was also up 14.95% from 39.81 mt received in November 2013, the data revealed.
Of the total volume of coal received in November, 37.56 mt was domestic and 8.20 mt was imported whereas in October, 37.57 mt was domestic and 8.08 mt was imported, respectively.
Meanwhile, coal consumption by power utilities during November 2014 stood at 41.21 mt against 40.19 mt in November 2013.
During the first eight months (April-November) of 2014-15, total coal received by the power utilities stood at 344.80 mt whereas the figure stood at 315.55 mt during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
On the other hand, coal receipts by India’s power utilities rose 7.21% during 2013-14 to 494.56 mt compared to 461.28 mt received during 2012-13 whereas consumption during 2013-14 was up 6.75% at 487.88 mt against 457.02 mt during the corresponding period of last year, data revealed.
