Indian power utilities’ Oct coal receipts up 11% m-o-m

November 30: Total coal receipts, both indigenous and domestic, by Indian power utilities, In October 2015, stood at 48.01 million tons (mt), showing a month-on-month growth of 10.93% against 43.28 mt in September, as per CEA data available with ICMW.
The receipt of coal (both indigenous and imported), by Indian power utilities during the first seven months (April-October) of 2015-16 edged up by 4.98% to 313.95 million tons (mt) from 299.04 mt received during the corresponding period of 2014-15, according to the data ICMW.
However, the receipt of domestic coal during the first seven months was up by 7.56% at 265.89 mt from 247.20 mt received during the same period of the previous financial year.
In October, the total receipt of coal by power plants stood at 48.01 mt, up 5.16% from 45.65 mt received during the same month in 2014.
During the month, there was 9.61% increase in receipt of indigenous coal by power plants at 41.18 mt from 37.57 mt in the same month last year while imported coal receipts fell by 15.48% to 6.83 mt from 8.08 mt recorded in October in 2014.
