Inner Mongolia Ordos August coal sales down 0.3% y-o-y

Coal-rich Ordos in the northern autonomous region of Inner Mongolia sold 45.78 million tonnes of coal in August, decreasing 0.3% from the year prior but up 4.5% from July, the latest official data showed.
Of this, sales from local mines -- owned by the prefecture and lower-level governments and private mines – stood at 35.15 million tonnes, rising 5% on year and up 9.6% on month. Coal sales from Shenhua Group fell 14.5% on year and down 9.5% from July to 10.63 million tonnes.
Over January-August, the city sold 328.9 million tonnes of coal, down 5.6% on year, including 237.1 million tonnes from local mines and 91.8 million tonnes from Shenhua, down 1% and 10.7% on year, respectively.
In August, average coal price was 173 yuan/t ($28.3/t) in Ordos, dropping 12.6% on year and down 2.8% from July. Raw coal price averaged 180 yuan/t, declining 12.6% on year and down 2.7% from July.
Coal price in Ordos averaged 188 yuan/t over January-August, falling 17.4% from a year ago.
