December 02: The spot price of steam coal in major markets remained largely stable on November 29, but coking coal prices softened further on lack of demand and ample availability, industry sources said.
With Chinese demand for coking coal slowing down and no excess demand from steel makers of any other country, there is ample availability of material and because of that prices are softening, they added.
Meanwhile, the price of standard South African steam coal softened by another $0.25 per ton, while that from countries like Australia and Indonesia remained largely stable.
