November 22: In line with the trend seen during the past, spot coal prices in international markets continued to firm up largely on speculative interest to ensure that indices settle at a high even as genuine buying or enquiries continued to elude the market, industry source said.
Meanwhile, a mild firmness was detected in the prices of the higher grades of Indonesian coal, on reports of some disturbances in loading due to the recent rains there which also helped prices to rise in other markets, they added.
"Actual deals are still not much in the market in the absence of bids, but offer prices continued to rise," they added.
Coking coal prices, however, fell sharply by about $3.00 per ton on November 21 in the absence of buying support amidst ample supplies, the sources said.
